The economic pressure on German hospitals is continuously growing.
In 2004 Germany counted 2,200 Hospitals, from which more than 80%* were owned by public institutions
Credit volume in 2004 reached EUR 10 billion, which resulted in EUR 500 million of annual interest expenses**
Public owners are concerned with economic pressure of increasing social costs and shrinking tax revenues; therefore they
contract out of liability
reduce subsidies for investments
As a result, investment holdups become obvious (up to EUR 30 billion)**
