Our
Focus
“Administration is too expensive!” Every manager regularly hears this sweeping accusation. It is true that, within the framework of all efforts made by every hospital to be competitive and economically successful, it must be particularly visible to medical professionals that the strict and tight measures they themselves experience are also applied in non-medical productive areas.
Especially technology, operations, and ICT, but also catering or central sterile supply, are often areas where management cannot delve deeply into technical details and where old structures persist for a long time.
To successfully shape the future, a healthcare provider must be highly professional in all its sub-areas.
Antegrad has placed a special focus on precisely these sub-areas of organizations and knows how performance must be measured and efficiency organized.
How much technology must the hospital provide itself?
Which functions are worthwhile doing in-house – and which are covered by external service providers?
How can tasks and costs in the technology sector be kept transparent and measurable?
How do I effectively organize the technology department?
How do I ensure the “proportionality” of technical measures (objectively and economically)?
Regarding the technology sector, the management of many hospitals is not very well trained – operations are largely left to themselves, meaning they are entirely dependent on the quality of local employees and managers. The managing director only sees the total costs and some project costs, personnel costs, their composition, downtimes, perhaps also material costs and costs for orders in maintenance/repair and replacement procurement.
Hospital technology is a very demanding field. Antegrad makes the technology sector transparent for you. We establish comparability with service providers active in the market. We assess the existing make-or-buy interface and derive a more efficient interface from the hospital’s specific situation, employee knowledge, and personnel structure.
We develop a system for traceable and fair in-house order tracking and the organization of internal services. Many complaints regarding the technology sector are based on long reaction times after a defect is reported in functional areas. We also help with the development of the technology sector by taking over operational control and responsibility.
Construction projects in hospitals are very complex, very expensive, and long-running projects. In Germany, there are a large number of architects and planners who specialize in hospital topics. Hospitals also have small construction departments which, if a (partial) new building is approved, face very significant challenges.
We at Antegrad are not architects or planners — we are managers. In the construction sector, we manage and are responsible for construction projects for the client – in their interest. Antegrad’s work is based on extensive experience from construction projects and the observation of project developments against the will and budget of the client.
A construction project requires very consistent management of stakeholders and strong content, time, and commercial control of internal and commissioned stakeholders. Antegrad ensures the adherence to and achievement of goals, construction schedules, and budgets.
A very large proportion of all patient complaints concern food. This is not surprising, as the quality of food can truly be assessed by every patient, and the classic patient catering system (tray system, cook & chill) offers ample room for criticism. Looking at what is ultimately served on the patient’s plate, it is often not good. Some hospitals with modern catering concepts show that it can be done differently.
Antegrad has developed new concepts in a variety of projects and implemented them for clients. We proceed according to the following scheme:
• Analysis of the existing system, including recording of total costs (e.g., kitchen and kitchen logistics, entire catering process)
• Assessment of the feasibility of implementing process and system improvements
• Project planning and calculation for the agreed approach
• System comparison in terms of content, organization, and finances
• Project planning and determination of project costs (material costs, construction, personnel)
• Creation of scenarios for committee submission and decision
• Implementation planning
• Project management and responsibility for implementation
We would be happy to present modern concepts to you and help you implement them.
Cleaning is an underestimated but very important area in hospitals, because patients can not only assess cleaning and tidiness – as part of hospital hygiene, high quality in daily work is absolutely crucial here.
The term cleaning includes:
• Cleaning in operating rooms and functional areas
• Disinfection service
• Surface cleaning
• Cleaning of patient rooms incl. furniture
• Bed cleaning and reprocessing
• Cleaning of outdoor areas and facilities
Concepts, goals, measurability, quality assessment, and testing are some of the terms that are also relevant for hospital management. Antegrad helps you establish the connection between daily operational work and the organization of control and monitoring tasks by the hospital’s senior staff. We assess existing concepts as well as the actual organization, quality, and reliability, and develop ideas and measures for improving quality and efficiency. Antegrad conducts system comparisons and analyzes and optimizes service provider contracts in terms of content.
Good hospital logistics are a prerequisite for economic operation.
Driven by logistics service providers, many hospitals focus on projects and contracts for external logistics. All considerations and all expensive concepts and partnerships end at the hospital ramp – and that’s exactly where our approach begins. In-house hospital logistics – or rather, in-house hospital supply chain – is a topic to which Antegrad devotes a great deal of attention.
In short: We identify and realize significant potential in optimizing the hospital supply chain.
